Oregano
*Oregano is a member of the mint family and is native to the Mediterranean. It is a perennial herb that can grow from eight to twenty-nine inches tall. It is closely related to Marjoram and in fact Oregano is sometimes called Wild Marjoram. It has purple flowers and spade shaped leaves. Oregano comes from the Greek language and means “delight of the mountains”. Oregano became popular in the US after World War II, when soldiers came home from Italy bringing spices for pizza.
